Facility to impart Physical training for men / women to the students in order build up team and competitive spirit is available. It helps the students to participate in various national, intercollegiate sports competitions. It is imperative that all students should participate in sports. Timings for coaching goes beyond college hours.
NCC instills discipline, regularity, punctuality and a sense of honor and pride of belonging to our country in young minds. The college has a NCC Naval unit for Women students headed by an Outstanding ANO. Many students participate in various camps conducted across the Nation and win prizes.
To motivate social conduct and to inculcate discipline among students, the NSS has been functioning under a programme officer. Activities like blood donation, cleaning of campus, planting saplings, anti-pollution campaign, AIDS awareness programme, etc. are being organized regularly.
Our college conducts the National Environmental Awareness campaign (NEAC) funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forests and supported by C.P. Ramasamy Iyer Environmental Education Centre, Chennai every year to create Environmental Awareness among the common public by confining to a particular village.
In collaboration with Public Health Departments of Pondicherry like Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Research Institute and with Central Government Hospitals like JIPMER has conducted many blood donation campus both in the campus and in the rural areas of Puducherry and thus helped to save many lives.
Anti-Ragging and Disciplinary committee looks after the overall student discipline as per Honorable Supreme Court order. Any reported incident of indiscipline is brought to the preview of the Disciplinary Committee. The Committee conducts enquiry and submits report to the Principal, who takes appropriate action as per the rules.
The Women’s Cell in the college aims to empower girl students, to enhance understanding of issues related to women and to make the college campus a safe place for women students. It also strives to create Gender Equity, value oriented leadership in Female students and to equip them to stand against gender violence and gender discrimination. Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the female students, the cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes and other welfare activities. The cell also arranges Arranging lectures of highly qualified and successful Women.
The function of the cell is to look into the complaints of the student. The Grievance cell is also empowered to look into matters of harassment. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the department members in person, or in consultation with the convener of Students’ Grievance Cell. In case the person is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may be dropped in writing at the letterbox/ suggestion box of the Grievance Cell at Administrative Block.
A Tamil Literary Association is functioning in the college to motivate and bring out the literary talents of the students. Eminent orators are invited and lectures / debates are being conducted periodically. The creative contributions of students are published in the form of the Tamil manuscript KURUTHU.
Cultural events and competitions are organized in the campus, during occasions such as Women’s Day, Teachers Day, Environment Day etc. Students participate in creative activities like Essay writing, Poem writing, Elocution, Poster Designing etc.
The Placement Cell of the College is responsible for guiding students for placement in credible organization. The key functions of the cell are conducting seminars, group discussions and mock interviews. It also coordinates the efforts of the students of the various departments in arranging industrial training for them. The Placement Cell of this college actively involves in preparing the students for communication skills, Aptitude test, Group discussion and interview techniques etc. Apart from this, the cell concentrates in providing counseling and guidance to students towards the higher studies, career in related fields, mock Interviews and mock entrance tests etc. The placement cell organizes Soft Skills Training Program jointly conducted by the Department of Information Technology, Government of Puducherry and the ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu. The ICT Academy is invested with the responsibility of organizing Placement Drives. Through these drives, students are placed in large and medium scale industries and organizations.
Parent Teacher meet is conducted at regular intervals. Parents are called after the semester exam results are announced to discuss about the performance of the candidate. The faculty, speak to the parents not only about the ward’s performance in the class, but also about shaping his/her career, the demands of the market and policy of the college. Parents are also free to approach the Faculty after college hours to discuss about their wards.
We offer remedial classes to help students deal with specific academic weaknesses during the semester say in the evenings, on weekends or during periods of preparatory leave. During these classes, additional problems are solved and students are allowed to interact with each other in addition to a faculty member to enhance collaborative learning. This tutorial system also provides extra classes, extra notes and extra guidance to students.
